Why Choose a Low Cost Dental Discount Plan?

Tooth decay is one of the most common health conditions in children and adolescents. However, due to the recent economic downturn, many families have chosen to sacrifice their dental insurance plans in order to save money.

This has left millions of young people with untreated cavities that will continue to get worse, which can lead to a host of general health problems.

Some dental offices hold charity events in which they offer their services for little or no cost. The Philadelphia Intelligencer recently reported on one such office that provided treatment to an individual with many problems, including cavities, impacted wisdom teeth and crowding in the mouth.

“If you don’t like your smile or your teeth aren’t looking good, then it affects your self esteem,” Dentist Michael Eisenbrock told the news sources.

Programs like this can provide many individuals with relief from dental problems that have gone untreated for long periods of time. However, these charitable efforts cannot provide the kind of preventative dental care necessary to avoid problems like this entirely.
